If I don't press the gas when I'm in neutral (whether coasting between gears or sitting still) then the RPM's just drop till the car stalls off. I've done it while parked and held the pedal with my hand to see precisely where it stalls at, and it'll go down to 600 RPM and idle there, then I let off the pedal and it just dies. Immediately after start, my automatic seatbelts are engaged and the RPMs drop to about 400 and the car shakes violently (while pressing brakes and even when not pressing brakes).
